VS Assembly Part 2

The final rivets of the lower rear spar caps to flanges.

Time to attach the front skin

Use Boelube on the screws to prevent galling.

All done!

Used the bolt gauge that came with my RV-10 kit to figure out which  bolts were being called out.

Torqued the upper hinge assembly to the spar.

 

Zip tied the lower hinge to the spar.

Finished product right side.

VS Assembly Part 1

Finally time to squeeze and pull some rivets - 3.25 man hours 

Time to rivet the hinge assemblies together.

Top and bottom hinge assemblies riveted together.

Cleco the upper spar caps to the aft spar.

My first pulled rivets.

Using the wedge tools to pull the rivets close to the flange.

Works like a charm!

Time to rivet the nutplates.

Using the squeezer to rivet the nutplates.

Vertical Stabilizer Priming Day!

Primed all the parts for the VS today - 2.5 man hours

Used my blind hole deburr tool to deburr the VS main skin holes.  This gets both sides at once.

Scuffed and acid etched all the parts.

Hanging the parts to dry.

Mixing up the EkoPoxy primer.

First time spraying this stuff.  It went on smooth and easy.
