Nose gear fork part 2

Finished up the nose gear fork install.

Using a spring scale to set the preload on the nose gear fork mounting nut.

Then drilling the cotter pin hole.

Then installing the bolts and washers that serve as mounting points for the towbar.

Van's shorted me on washers so this side has to wait.  Van's in the past supplied tons of extra hardware.  Now you are lucky to have just enough to finish the job.  If you lose, damage, any of the hardware is flawed, or they shorted you, there will not be enough. :(

Next is installing the axle, spacers and shims.

All done...

Nose gear leg and fork part 1.

Mounted the nose gear leg today.

Shantel got in on the airplane building by helping me torque some nuts.

I put some temp hardware in the top mount of the nose gear leg.  I did not like how it was not supported.

The KAI's have you fab up these gear leg fairing mounts for the nose gear fork.

And then rivet them to the fork.

Next these pivot stop bolts are installed with Medium Loctite.

Then the fork cam be installed with some grease on the bushings and the machined axle.
