Today I prepped and primed the top wing skins for the right wing.

Taking advantage of the solar energy to dry the skins.  Left one only has tack coat on it and is drying.  Right one is finished.

Rivets aft of the spar.

All done with the nose ribs riveted.  Also the wing walk doubler.

That was a ton of work to get done in one work session!  My fingers are sore from placing and pulling over a 1000 rivets.

There will be no updates till at least next Wednesday as we are going glamping with the 5th wheel for Memorial day.

 Today I prepped and primed the bottom skins for the right wing.

Worked on the top skins for the left wing today.  Here are the skins all deburred and prepped for primer.

Wing rib prep -15

 It was a miracle but after working at my real job all day I managed to get the remaining wing ribs primed.

That was way too many parts to prep and prime all at the same time.  To say it sucked is an understatement.

To increase the difficulty, I was dodging rain showers as well!

The parts look all blotchy until the primer dries then it is a nice even color.

 Well that's another seven hours of my life I will never get back!  Scrubbing parts for primmer is my 2nd least favorite activity building an airplane.  

Got the rest of the ready to prime while dodging rain storms.  Hopefully I will get a chance to squirt primer on them tomorrow after I get home from work.

Wing rib prep-13

 Got 25% of the ribs primed today.  Only 75% more to go!  Some rain moving in this weekend so not sure if I will get em all done this week.

 Got the first of four batches of ribs scrubbed and ready for priming.  

Wings part #5!

Prepping the wing structure for priming.

Should be able to get these primed after work tomorrow.  It is getting harder to have good weather for priming,  

On top of all of this Van's filled chapter 11 and we are trying to determine what our path forward is.  More to come here!

Wings part #2!

After priming all the wing main wing spar parts, I riveted them to the main spars.

Another thousand rivets bites the dust!

Just follow the KAI's  and the rivets called out.  

Fuselage center section #83 - Forward upper fuselage parts priming!

Finished up part prep and primming!

Fabricated these canopy mount angles per the KAI's.

Centered the line on the angle with the hole in the canopy mount rib.

Clamped the fabricated angle and match drilled the nutplate rivet holes.  Then match drilled the bolt hole to 1/4".

Pulled out the DRDT-2 in order to dimple the holes left by Van's in the middle of this shelf.  Weird why Van's dimples some of these at the factory and then leaves a few for the builder.  If you don't have this tool or the C-Frame tool, they recommend some alternatives but they suck!

All the parts are coated in primer!  Hopefully some assembly tomorrow!

Fuselage center section #74 - Seat back priming.

 Scrubbed and primed all the seat back parts tonight.

Fuselage center section #70 - Rollover bar brace and aft baggage bulkhead priming!

 Prepped and primed all the parts for the rollover bar brace and the aft baggage bulkhead.

Scrubbed all the parts with scotchbrite and pre-kote.  Hung up to dry.

Parts all primed and mostly dry.

Riveted this standoff per the directions.

Riveted this fuel pump bracket brace to the bulkhead rib.

Riveted the fuel pump bracket assembly together.

 Priming day!

After scrubbing the rollbar parts with scotchbrite and PreKote, I primed the parts.  I am trying PreKote over the acid etch just to see how well it works.

Parts all primed and hanging to dry.  The days are getting much cooler, priming in the winter may become problematic to do outside.
